Comparison of precipitation projections of CMIP5 and CMIP6 global climate models over Yulin, China

This study compared precipitation projections of CMIP5 and CMIP6 GCMs over Yulin City, China. The performance in replicating Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) climatology the city was evaluated using different statistical metrics. best performing common to both were finally selected subsequently downscaled GPCC resolution linear scaling method assess spatiotemporal changes basin. revealed BCC.CSM1.1(m), IPSL.CM5A.LR, MRI.CGCM3, MIROC5 their equivalents BCC-CSM2-MR, IPSL-CM6A-LR, MRI.ESM2.0, MIRCO6 as most suitable for projection Yulin. range ?14.0 0.0% ?22.0 0.2% during 2021?2060 RCP4.5 SSP245 scenarios, respectively. projected decrease more 2061–2100 scenarios. highest ?29.7 ?22.0% by MRI-ESM-2-0 SSP2-45, while ?28.0 ?20.0% RCP4.5. For RCP8.5 SSP5-85 ?17.0 ?2.0% ?32.0 0.0%, respectively, 2021–2060 GCMs. An increase up 12.3% only IPSL-CM5A-LR RCP85 this period. A further all 2061?2100 (?40.2 ?29.0%) IPSL-CM6A-LR ?26.0%) SSP5-85. Overall, results a higher City that corresponding can be significance planning mitigation climate change it gives insight into expected possibility choices
